Lady Di’s butler ‘hits’ Harry where it hurts the most: “Your mother would never have done it”

Burrell, who sat down this Tuesday with Risto Mejide in traveling with chesterhas recalled: “Harry was the troublemaker, the terror of the palace. He is the boy who was always told ‘your brother would be king’ and he realizes that his brother will have much more than him throughout his life. I thought that she was following in the same footsteps as her mother, who wanted to have a quiet life, away from the spotlight. The book changed everything. A couple who want privacy and really want to keep it deep, suddenly they invite the whole world and Netflix to his house to spill his family secrets and they get millions for it. He’s crossed the line of loyalty and into the world of celebrity, but that’s not his world. He’s stepped into that world and sold his soul to the Devil”.

Paul believes that Lady Di would not approve of what her son has done: “He talks about his penis, about losing his virginity. He is not the prince I knew. His mother would never talk about private things, it is an attack on the institution. He pulled the carpet in private things before the queen died,” he said angrily. He compares Harry to Guillermo and sentences their relationship: “Kate and Guillermo still have a lot of privacy, they will be king and queen and they are spotlessly clean. There is a fracture between the brothers that has grown so much that I don’t think it can be overcome.”

In addition, he sends a hard message to Harry: “I’m the only one who told him stories when he was little, the one who pampered him… Harry, you’ve had a very privileged life, you’ve had millions of dollars in a beautiful house in California. You have not had the harshness of life, you have not known it”. And he adds: “Such a defender that you are mental health and you are hurting others. He accuses me of making money at their expense, of the death of his mother, and he only wants to hurt me.”

“Carlos threw a book at my head”

But the youngest of the Windsors is not the only one who gets hurt in this interview. Burrell remembers the years he spent with Diana when she was still the wife of the then Prince carlos: “One night the princess, who talked a lot with me, called me and asked me where Carlos was. She wanted to know where he had gone because I always knew where he was. I told her that it wasn’t fair that she put me in that situation and that I would talk to him in the morning. First thing in the morning he called him and five minutes later he called me on my call bell, I went to the library and he asked me to close the door.” He continues: “He asked me if I had spoken to the princess and what I had told him. I told him that I had only told him that I was out, he asked me why I had said it and I said that only because it was true. He asked me if not I could lie for him and he told me he was the prince and he paid my salary and I was going to do exactly what he asked. He turned blue and threw a book at me but I dodged it and thought it was time to go Five minutes later he calmed down and apologized to me. He has a temper and hasn’t changed, he wants things done his way. And now he’s the king. They iron his shoelaces so he can make a perfect bow They iron his pajamas every day, prepare his toothpaste on the brush… It’s all true.”

Paul notes: “No one has ever said no to her, except Diana. That’s where things got complicated. She dared to say no and paid a price.”

“Diana had mental problems”

An exceptional witness to the rise and fall of the marriage between Carlos and Diana, he has revealed details hitherto unpublished: “The queen liked Diana, but she did not understand her. She had mental problems, but at that time they were not diagnosed. Carlos thought she was crazy , but it’s not true…I was just disappointed. They treated her terrible, but not by the queen, she was different.”

He also assures that both Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh supported her even after their separation: “During the divorce period, the Queen and Felipe were in favor of her and against her son. Felipe told Diana that They didn’t understand Carlos and they didn’t approve of him having extramarital affairs.” However, everything changed after her famous appearance on the BBC: “The interview she gave, referring to the respective infidelities of her marriage, was too much. That’s it. The queen ordered her divorce.”

At 64, Burrell is sick with cancer and does not want his story to be forgotten: “I have learned to tell the truth thanks to cancer. When I am gone, the truth will remain.” And he adds: “It is a blessing to have been part of the Royal House because I have met two of the most iconic people of time, the Queen and Princess Diana. I am happy to have been able to carry on their legacy.”
