La Vuelta 23 reveals its entire route this Tuesday in Barcelona

BARCELONA, 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Palau de la Música in Barcelona hosts this Tuesday the complete presentation of the official route of La Vuelta 23, a 78th edition that will leave the Catalan capital on August 26 and will arrive in Madrid on September 17, after passing through the mythical Tourmalet (France) and Andorra.

Only the route of the first two stages is known so far, with almost full prominence for Barcelona. And the city will host, from its majestic Palau de la Música, the presentation of the rest of the stages without leaving anything behind.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., Unipublic will reveal the ins and outs of this Vuelta which, as confirmed for now, will visit Andorra and France and will begin with a team time trial in Barcelona and a second stage starting in Mataró and ending in the always complicated and spectacular top of Montjuïc.

It is known that the Port Olímpic of Barcelona -from where the Copa América 2024 will start- will be the scene of a particular start (yet to be detailed) of the team time trial, with 14.6 kilometers and arrival on Avenida de la Reina Maria Cristina, at the foot of Montjuïc.

As for the second stage, it will leave Mataró and arrive at the historic gate of the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys that saw the marathon reach the Barcelona 92 Olympic Games, after 181.3 kilometers of a hard route, with two mountain levels ( Coll de Sant Bartomeu in 3rd and Coll d’Estenalles in 2nd) and a tough finish worthy of a final attack among the strongest.

Previously, the director of La Vuelta, Javier Guillén, confirmed that the Spanish round would go through two countries, alluding to Andorra and France, since it would climb the mythical Tourmalet, one of the most prestigious peaks in the Tour de France, the test by stages par excellence.

“It will be a very mountainous and international Tour, with a presence in at least two more countries. The route will be more spectacular and more media coverage,” Guillén said at a Europa Press Information Meeting last December 2022.
