La Real saves an agonizing point against Alavés and Rayo punishes an inferior Getafe

MADRID, 2 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Sociedad could not get out of its bad moment of results this Tuesday, although it could be satisfied with saving a point by tying 'in extremis' against Deportivo Alavés (1-1) at the Reale Arena and playing with one less, a greater inferiority, which Getafe also suffered in their derby against Rayo Vallecano and which the franjirrojo team did punish (0-2) to end their drought of victories, in the matches that opened the nineteenth day of LaLiga EA Sports 2023 -2024.

The first two derbies with which football returned to action in Spain were marked by the inferiorities suffered by both Real Sociedad, with ten from the final stretch of the first half, and Getafe, which was left with nine for almost the entire the second half, but with different results for both.

At the Reale Arena, Real Sociedad could not get out of its doubtful moment and extended its consecutive draws to four, counting Inter Milan's in the Champions League, despite the fact that this was the best tasting probably because Alavés had in his hand. The Gipuzkoa team moves away from fourth place and the team from Vitoria, four away from relegation.

However, the 'babazorros', perhaps less ambitious than their numerical superiority required due to an innocent action by Alex Remiro, once again remained with honey on their lips as in the farewell to 2023, when a goal from Lucas Vázquez more beyond 90, also with one more on the field, deprived them of a point more valuable than this one.

La Real had three draws in a row and all of them without scoring, a good sign that they are not fine. And although he wanted to come out dominant, he did not find the key to harm the visiting defense in the first 45 minutes where two high-level defensive actions, by Zubeldia and Tenaglia, prevented the best chances from Guridi and Oyarzabal, respectively.

The game seemed to be controlled by Imanol Alguacil's team when Remiro, who was in a great moment, did not measure well in his exit and the bounce of a hit by Sivera and put his hand outside the area once he was already overcome and with Rebbach ready to take advantage of it. The Guipuzcoan coach removed the '9', André Silva, to bring in Unai Marrero, but despite his inferiority he had more ambition.

La Real tried with the energy of Take Kubo, but their chances came in dribs and drabs, with Rafa Marí saving a shot from Oyarzabal after a poor start by Sivera. Alavés, despite the entry of Kike García, could not trouble Marrero, but finally took the lead after Rioja scored a penalty from Merino on Guevera.

Alguacil brought in the burly Sadiq to try to save everything possible and the Nigerian ended up being a headache for the 'babazorra' defense, which could not prevent a series of rejections in a play started by the attacker ending in the 97th with the 1 -1 from Zubimendi, although before, Kubo had deserved it with a powerful shot against the crossbar.

CAMELLO JUSTICES A GETAFE WITH 9

On the other hand, the first match of the year was marked by the expulsions suffered by Getafe, two of players on the field of play and which ended up tipping the balance in favor of a calmer Vallecano team that put an end to its streak of eight league games without winning, the last four without scoring.

In a derby played in the 'exile' of the Cívitas Metropolitano due to the closing of the Coliseum, the 'blue' team, which had achieved an epic draw against Atlético de Madrid precisely in that scenario to say goodbye to 2023, tried to dominate and impose its style, but it was difficult for him to create chances, with his scorer Borja Mayoral well controlled.

Latasa had the best for the locals in a great delivery that he 'hunted' in the area, but that narrowly missed, while, within the equality, Isi Palazón put David Soria's great moment to the test with a great shot from outside the area, whose rebound executed by Camello also failed to overcome the 'blue' goalkeeper.

The match was about to go into half-time with the score tied when everything changed in two decisive plays. Latasa hit Óscar Valentín in the face in a jump and saw the second yellow card, and shortly after, Rayo designed a great collective play that hit the Camello net after another worthy save by Soria from a cross shot by Balliu.

The passage through the locker room gave José Bordalás time to try to reorganize his team, but Francisco's team increased the score shortly after the restart with another goal from the Atlético youth squad, who had not yet seen the net this season and who did not forgive a lack of understanding of the rival defense. This blow was followed by the red for Mason Greenwood for addressing Figueroa Vázquez in protest at the failure to signal what the Englishman considered to be a foul.

With two less, Getafe continued trying at the cost of leaving many spaces for a rival who did not take full advantage of them to finish a match that still had one more expulsion, that of Damián Suárez when he had just been substituted, a severe punishment for a Getafe saw its streak cut short and was still able to savor a joy, that of the return of Turkish forward Enes Unal after more than seven months.
