La Cartuja invested three million euros to receive the Eurocup

The La Cartuja Stadium Society, majority owned by the Junta de Andalucía among other institutions, invested three million euros in about thirty actions to adapt the installation to the standards for hosting Euro 2020 matches.

The Ministry of Education and Sports reported this Friday in a statement that UEFA, organizer of the tournament, is paying eight hundred thousand euros (two hundred thousand for each game that has been scheduled) as it is the headquarters of Spain-Sweden, Spain-Poland and Slovakia-Spain of the first phase and the round of 16 that will be played on Sunday between Belgium and Portugal.

For the Junta de Andalucía, the estimated economic return is 215 million euros, 73 of them directly and 142 through media coverage for both Seville and Andalusia, In addition, the stadium has been updated in record time to host one of the three best sports competitions in the world.

They stand out among the adaptation actions, carried out in less than a month and a half, the renewal of video scoreboards by another two of a new generation and larger, the creation of a new telecommunications room, creation of two new health clinics additional or replacement of the field lighting installation with one with LED technology.

Also in the sports area, a comprehensive renovation of five changing rooms has been undertaken (two for technicians, two for athletes and one for referees), la of the doping control room, the creation of a new press room or the change of irrigation system of playing field and integral maintenance of the lawn.

The Minister of Education and Sports, Javier Imbroda, assures that “the La Cartuja Stadium aspires to the celebration of any sporting event of the highest national and international level, with the maximum guarantees of safety, comfort, sustainability and excellence”.

Imbroda, in statements provided by the Ministry, adds that La Cartuja is located in the front line for the celebration of the World Championship of national soccer teams of 2030 if finally the candidacy of Spain and Portugal is chosen as the venue. EFE
