Kun Agüero: “I go with my head up, this is very hard”

Sergio el Kun Agüero leaves football for good. As suspected, the heart problem that was detected a month and a half ago has ended his career and he was fired terribly affected at the Camp Nou.

Visibly moved, Kun Agüero found it difficult to start speaking because the tears could with him. “This conference is to inform you that I have decided to stop playing soccer (her mother’s shell). I have decided to leave professional soccer. It is a very hard time. I am very happy for the decision I made. The first thing is my health. I made this decision because of the problem I had a month or so ago. I was in the good hands of the doctors who told me that it was best to stop playing. I made the decision ten days or a week ago. I did my best to find one hope, but there weren’t many. I am very proud of my career. I always dreamed of playing since I was five years old when I touched a ball. My dream was to play in the First Division and I never imagined reaching Europe. Thanks to Independiente, to the artist who is here who bet on me when I was 18 years old. The people of City, where I left my best, know how I feel about them. And the people at Barça who are incredible. I knew I was coming to the best team in the world and they treated me very well. Thanks to all who are here, to my family. I did my best to help but… thanks to my colleagues. I go with my head held high. I don’t know what will wait for me in the next life, but I know that there are many people who love me. Thanks to the journalists who treated me well sometimes and other times badly (laughs) but nothing happens. I keep the beauty of these times. Thanks a lot”.

The Argentine footballer announced this decision in the press room of the Camp Nou before a banner that read “Cler per semper”. He was also next to all his colleagues, accompanied by the president Joan Laporta and by Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach, and Txiki Begisristain, sports director of the English club that Kun left last summer turned into a myth by being their top scorer.

The player recalled his ephemeral time at Barcelona saying that “since I arrived they treated me very well. Here they are very fans and that surprised me with the love they gave me. I would have liked to be more, but things happen for something. I wish them the best because I have very good colleagues and very young people ”.

Kun explained that “I feel good right now. The first two weeks were tough, after the first physical test in the clinic The doctors already called me to tell me that it was very difficult to continue playing, I started to get used to the idea. I was still hopeful, but then coldly I assumed it. It was difficult”.

The player acknowledged that “it happened to me when I was 33 years old and that allows me to be proud of my career. If it had to happen, better now and not before. I wanted to keep winning more things, but I am happy for what I have won. I did my best for the teams I played for. In fact, that they have detected this problem is something positive, my idea is to continue linked to football ”.

Regarding his memories in the race, the player highlighted “a very nice goal that I scored at the age of 17 with Independiente against Racing, I have nothing against them, With Atleti in the Europa League it was very good and in City the goal that I scored for Queens Park Rangers to win the first Premier League for me and for the club and the last was in the Copa América, where I was accompanying the boys and the last goal I made against Madrid recently. Not bad for the last goal ”.

His plans are to “be quiet now for a while and I don’t know what I’ll do. I cannot make an assessment of my legacy. I am not the one to say that I am a crack ”.
