Kuhn falls in Antalya; Andújar says goodbye to Delray Beach

The Spanish tennis player Nicola Kuhn said goodbye this Saturday to the tournament in Antalya (Turkey), of the ATP 250 category and played on hard court, after falling decisively in the second round to Belgian David Goffin (6-0, 6-2).

The tennis player of Austrian origin and resident in Torrevieja (Alicante), 20 years old and number 253 in the world, he had overcome the first round against the German Matthias Bachinger, who had to retire due to physical problems in the third set just when the Spanish confirmed his comeback (3-6, 6-3, 4-1).

However, this Saturday he had no option against the Belgian, number 16 in the world ranking, who endorsed him a 'donut' and did not grant him any chance to break in the first set. Already in the second set, Goffin linked a vital 4-0 to close the match in less than an hour of play.

Andújar says goodbye to Delray Beach

With 27 direct aces as the main weapon, 41-year-old Croatian Ivo Karlovic beat Spanish Pablo Andujar, seventh seed, 6-3, 5-7 and 6-4 in the first round of the Delray Beach tournament.

Andujar had the worst rival that can be found on the hard court, and in a first round. Karlovic beat the Spaniard in a battle of two hours and 18 minutes, already achieving something that is almost a tradition in him: at least one win per year on the ATP Tour.

In the second round, Croatian veteran will face Ecuadorian left-hander Roberto Quiroz that he will now seek the first classification of his career to a quarter-final in a box of this type.

It will be the first time that Quiroz and Karlovic have met at the tour level, but the second time considering that they already crossed paths in Calgary 2018 on the ATP Challenger Tour. On that occasion, Karlovic's experience in the third set tiebreaker prevailed, reports the ATP. Both will come to their duel in Delray Beach with confidence through the roof.

Quiroz, 28, and nephew of former Grand Slam champion Andrés Gómez, He comes from beating American Noah Rubin in one hour and 29 minutes. He defeated it 7-6 (1), 6-3, and completed three victories in the week including the two in the qualifying phase. In another main draw match, American Frances Tiafoe defeated compatriot Donald Young 6-3, 6-4.
