Kroos, positive for coronavirus

The season with Real Madrid is over for Toni Kroos. The German has tested positive for coronavirus today, as reported by the white club in a statement released this afternoon. The midfielder had been isolated at his home since last Friday, having learned that a close contact had tested positive. Kroos, who will now have to serve a quarantine of at least ten days, will not be able to play this next Saturday (18:00) the last league game against Villarreal, in which Madrid can be proclaimed champion if they win and Atlético do not in Valladolid.

It is the ninth positive for a player from the Madrid first team this season. Before, Militao, Casemiro, Hazard, Jovic, Nacho, Varane, Ramos and Valverde also suffered from COVID. The coach, Zinedine Zidane, and the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, also tested positive.. In the final stretch of last season, Mariano also suffered from the virus, on his return from vacation that the French coach granted to the squad after the end of the League and before preparing for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Manchester United.

Kroos played his last game on Sunday 9 against Sevilla. He played the 90 minutes and gave the assists of the two goals of Madrid against those of Lopetegui. Zidane booked him on Thursday against Granada, since he had been forcing with some physical discomfort for several weeks. He was in the call, but with the evolution of the game the coach did not consider it appropriate to give him minutes. The next day he had to start the quarantine when he learned that it was close contact of a positive.

Toni Kroos general statistics.

The German closes the season as the seventh player with the most minutes played in the Real Madrid squad. He has participated in 42 games, in which he has added 3,194 minutes on the pitch. In relation to the minutes played, in the goal passing section it has been the most productive season for Kroos with the Real Madrid shirt: one every 266 minutes.
