Mateo Kovacic lifted his fourth European Cup this Saturday, but the most special of all, because he finally felt like a protagonist.
The Croatian player, a former Real Madrid player, had already played the ‘Orejona’ three times, always with the Whites, but he could never have enjoyed it on the field.
In the 2015/2016 season, the first in his time as a Madrid player, he was not chosen for the squad that beat Atlético de Madrid in the final in Milan in the penalty shoot-out.
In the final of the following season, the one that Real Madrid beat Juventus of Turin in Cardiff, the Croatian was on the bench, but Zinedine Zidane did not give him entry.
