Korda surprises Isner and goes to the semifinals at Delray Beach

The young American Sebastian Korda, number 119 in the world, gave the surprise this Monday by beating his compatriot John Isner, twenty-fifth, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the Delray Beach Open tournament, of the ATP 250, and got the pass to the semifinals.

As happened last year at Roland Garros, the 20-year-old Korda played better from the back of the court. and he scored the decisive goals that left him the winner after one hour and 51 minutes of action, after overcoming 13 “aces” that Isner placed.

Korda's rival in the semifinals will be England's Cameron Norrie, number 74 in the world, which tonight closed the quarterfinal with the 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 win over American Frances Tiafoe, eighth seeded.

The duel between Korda and Norrie will be the first they have as professionals within the circuit.

Along with Korda and Norrie, the Pole Hubert Hurkacz, fourth seeded, and American Christian Harrison, who reached the main draw through qualifyingThey will face off in search of the second ticket to the final.

Hurkacz, world number 35, won 6-4 and 6-4 over Ecuadorian Roberto Quiroz, 293 in the standings, which entered the main draw through qualifying.

The 23-year-old Polish tennis player, who faced Quiroz for the first time, achieved the decisive goals with his serve and with his rest he broke it the two times that allowed him to establish the difference in the final score, in a match that lasted one hour and 25 minutes.

Harrison, 26, ranked number 789, who had already been the executioner of Chilean Cristian Garín, the first seed of the tournament, maintained his winning streak by winning by 7-6 (2) and 6-4 to Italian Gianluca Mager and reach their first semi-finals in an ATP 250 tournament.

The American tennis player once again had his best weapon in the game from the back of the court and his rest also decided in the key points that assured him the winning “breaks”.

The duel against Hurkacz will be the first for both players keep it professional.
