Korda, who will be seeking his first ATP professional title after winning the 2018 Australian Open as a junior, confirmed the progress he has made in the last year and has fully entered as a new member of the so-called Next Generation.

The son of the former professional, Czech Petr Korda, winner of the 1998 Australian Open and was a finalist at Roland Garros (1992), only needed an hour and 21 minutes to ensure the victory that allows him to reach his first ATP final.

Korda, 20, 119 in the ATP rankings, facing Norrie for the first time, 74 in the world, He always imposed his best game from the back of the court with a great rest and also asserted his best serve on the hard court.

After dominating with two “breaks” the first set, the second was more even, but he also made the break that put him in front of the scoreboard to have a partial of 5-4 and serve in his power.

But allowed Norrie came from behind (30-0) to make the “break” and put the tie (5-5) on the scoreboard.

However, Korda reacted immediately with the break of the serve to Norrie in the eleventh and to the second match point, in the twelfth, he sentenced the victory that put him in the final, where he will rival Hurkacz, 23, fourth seed, who in the first semifinal beat American Christian Harrison 7-6 (4), 6-4, who made it to the main draw through qualifying.

“I'm ready to play my first final as a professional,” Korda declared at the end of the match. “But above all I am happy with the way I played again for the entire time I was on the track, although in the end I felt the pressure again to secure victory and made some unnecessary unforced errors. “

The duel between Korda, who in the quarterfinals eliminated his compatriot John Isner, and Hurkacz, 35 in the world, who will seek his second ATP title, it will be the first that both have within the professional circuit.

“I know that (Hurkacz) reaches the final as a favorite, but that is something that does not worry me or will condition me in my game, Since all I have to do is go out on the court and do my best tennis, “Korda stressed.” Having my father around is sure to help me in what will be an important new professional experience. “

Within the doubles competition, the couple formed by the Uruguayan Ariel Behar and the Ecuadorian Gonzalo Escobar won 6-1, 5-7 and 10-1 against the Americans Mackenzie McDonald and Tommy Paul in the first semifinal match.
