The midfielder of the Spanish team Koke explained that they had “very well studied” the “fundamental” match this Thursday against Greece, with the “responsibility” of winning and bringing the qualification closer to the World Cup in Qatar 2022, knowing that before and now they depend of themselves.
“We knew that we depended on these two games. Today’s game was fundamental, we had to win and we have done that. Georgia has done us a favor but we thought about winning our game,” he told TVE after the 0-1 in Athens.
“We have had chances, we have played great football in the first half. In the second they have pushed harder but we had the game under control. The team played a great game and we are fair winners,” he added.
The Atlético player explained that they had well prepared the match against a demanding Greece. “We have studied the game very well. We have seen a great team against an opponent that was very complicated, very intense, very hard-working and we had a great game,” he said.
“For us it is a responsibility to be in the World Cup, because of the level we have, the players we have and the group we are forming. Playing a World Cup is the best and we all have the desire and the illusion of being there,” he concluded .
