Koeman: “As a coach I can't ask for more from my team”

Ronald Koeman is used to the epic in the Cup. This time also against a level team like Sevilla. “I am more than 100% proud of my players.” This was what he said at a press conference:

What a way to suffer in this Cup, right?

We are suffering a lot in this Cup. We must highlight the ambition of this team. As a coach I can't ask for more from this team.

Was such an aggressive Sevilla expected?

Sevilla is such a team. It puts a lot of pressure on you and squeezes you. They knew that if they scored, they were very good at it.

What value do you give to the 0-2 on Saturday at the Sánchez Pizjuán?

The 0-2 win there was very important for our confidence. We have tried to make the same game and we have succeeded.

How do you rate the penalty saved by Ter Stegen?

The penalty saved by Ter Stegen was decisive. With a 1-1 it was almost impossible, but it is clear that we deserved to pass.

Too bad I can't celebrate this comeback with the fans

I am proud of this team. It is a shame to celebrate it with only ninety people in the field and not with all the people. Any home game without an audience is bad. Soccer belongs to the fans. With 90,000 people it would have been magical.

What percentage is your team proud of?

More than 100%.

Does a comeback like this reinforce you as a coach?

The team has deserved it for their work and honesty. We have improved a lot without the ball, we are much more aggressive. It is an important result for the club and for me. If you win games you are very good and if you lose games you are very bad.

Your happiest night at Barça as a coach?

Yes. For me and for the players.

Is the miracle in Paris possible?

A 2-0 is easier than a 1-4. We will go there to win the game and then we will see what happens. If we don't pass, accept it.

How do you value Piqué's goal and his leadership?

Gerard has proven to be one of the undisputed leaders of the team and has been decisive for us with his goal. But it is not fair to single out one player.
