Klopp sees Van Dijk unlikely to return this season

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said Tuesday that it is “unlikely” that defender Virgil van Dijk will play again this season.

“At the moment no doctor, no person, has told me that there is a possibility that Virgil will play again this season. I do not want to say that it is absolutely impossible, but it is unlikely, “said Klopp at the press conference prior to Wednesday's game against Brighton for the Premier League.

But, be that as it may, Virgil van Dijk will continue to be listed for the Premier and the Champions League. “Nobody told me that we should change this. We believe in miracles from time to time. We will have a place for him in the Champions League and he is already in the Premier League, ”said Klopp.

Faced with the plague of injuries in the defensive line suffered by Liverpool, the 'red' club signed on Monday, on the last day of the winter market, two central defenders: Ben Davies (Preston North End, of the English Second) and Ozan Kabak. Van Dijk suffered a torn knee ligament following a tackle by Jordan Pickford in October in the 2-2 game between Everton and Liverpool.
