SALZBURG (Austria), January 14 (dpa/EP) –
German coach Jürgen Klopp insisted this Tuesday that his “commitment” is not to coach a Red Bull brand team, although he added that he cannot say that he will not manage a bench again in his “life.”
“I will not be a coach of a Red Bull team, it is a clear commitment. The plan is completely different and I will not be the substitute for one of the Red Bull coaches. But I cannot say that I will not be a coach in my life,” Klopp assured the be officially presented as Red Bull’s new head of global football.
Last year it was announced that the former Borussia Dortmund and Livepool coach would take up the role at the energy drinks giant. Klopp will oversee Red Bull’s football operations, which include RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and New York Red Bulls, among others.
When asked why Red Bull and not another coaching position, the German explained that he will now have “a different role.” “I have always said that I love what I do. After a thousand games and press conferences, I wanted a new beginning and a new opportunity. For this stage of my life, it is the perfect step,” he added.
“In this role I want to share all my experience, I no longer need it for myself. How exactly it will work, we will see. In football there is no plan that works for all teams,” Klopp added.
