Kiprun and Decathlon inaugurate 42 House, their new talent factory in Kenya

MADRID, 29 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Kiprun, Decathlon's specialized running brand, has inaugurated 42 House, the new training center for the development of athletes in Iten, in the Rift Valley in Kenya, and where 14 runners are currently training with a follow-up comprehensive of your sessions.

With the capacity to accommodate up to 22 runners, 42 House has a sports director, two coaches and an operations director. In addition, it has an educational supervisor who contributes to improving group life and cohesion among athletes, accompanied by a chef and a caregiver.

The 500 square meter main building is distinguished by its functional architecture. It contains 11 rooms of 25 square meters each, as well as a dining room and a gym, for the physical and mental preparation of athletes. The roof offers panoramic views of the Rift Valley, adding a tone of serenity to the surroundings.

42 House is much more than just a training center. It is an innovative approach and model that conveys Kiprun's values. “It is with immense pride that Decathlon and Kiprun inaugurate this project. 42 House will support the future elites of athletics, and where to do it better than in Iten, the almost mythical 'House of Champions'?” said Bárbara Martin Coppola, CEO from Decathlon.

THE BIRTH OF 42 HOUSE

The name '42 House' comes from the distance covered in a marathon and House symbolizes the family spirit that Kiprun tries to embody, which aims to become one of the top 5 global running brands.

Kenya, the birthplace of running, was the ideal location, since its athletes account for 60 percent of the victories in the six main marathons (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York) on the international calendar.

In addition to full board, athletes receive a monthly allowance of 20,000 shillings (approximately 125 euros, with the average salary in Kenya being 15,000 shillings), allowing them to meet the needs of their families. Tailored support is also offered to help you understand the concepts of savings and investment.

Athlete Paul Chelimo, who joined the Kiprun athletic team in 2023, is 42 House's mentor. The Kenyan-born athlete, specialist in the 5,000 meters and double Olympic medalist – silver in Rio in 2016 and bronze in Tokyo in 2021 – is a daily source of inspiration for the athletes who stay at the center.
