Kenyan athlete Rhonex Kipruto provisionally suspended due to doping

MADRID, 18 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Kenyan athlete Rhonex Kipruto, who has held the world record of 10,000 meters since the XII edition of the 10K Valencia Ibercaja, was provisionally suspended this Wednesday by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU, in English) due to the consumption of a substance prohibited.

Kipruto, whose final time of 26:24 set that record on January 12, 2020, has now violated Article 2.2 of the Anti-Doping Rules of the International Athletics Federation (World Athletics), and with it also its Integrity Code of Conduct. .

In Kipruto’s palmares, the bronze medal that he won in the 10,000-meter event during the 2019 World Outdoor Athletics Championships, held in Doha (Qatar), shines above all.
