The footballer from Monaco Keita Baldé has decided to pay accommodation in two hotels in Lleida to 80 fruit workers who, until now, have slept in the streets of the city.
As reported by the Lleida City Council, this is a “temporary” decision that will last two weeks, until a “more definitive resource” can be found for this season.
Specifically, on Saturday 40 people slept at the Ibis Hotel and, on Sunday, 40 more joined at the Reina Isabel hotel.
Also, to facilitate the transfer of these people between the hotel and the field, the Lleida consistory has managed with the ATM the reinforcement of the regular bus lines that make the journey between Lleida and La Granja d'Escarp, and the same footballer It also takes care of transport tickets.
The activist Nogay Ndiaye, the person in charge of representing the soccer player before the institutions of the city, has assured that this decision fulfills “the soccer player's desire to help those people who currently do not yet have accommodation.”
