Mario García, fourth: “The Spanish 1,500 is very sweet, I want to inspire the next generation of athletes”

The Spanish athlete Mohamed Katir declared himself “very happy” for winning the bronze medal in the 1,500 meters of the World Championship, which is taking place in Eugene (United States), and stated that “this is only the beginning” because he aspires to achieve get back on the podium in the next European in August in Munich (Germany).
“I am very well, very happy to get a medal and more in a World Championship. I am very proud and I hope that I have made my country, my people, my family enjoy. For his part, Mario García, fourth with the third best Spanish record in history (3:30.20), was also amazed at the mark achieved in Eugene. “I don’t believe it. Now I want to inspire the next generation of Spanish athletes,” he said.
The Spanish champion of 1,500 said that “I knew that I could be fighting for the medals”, but that the mark of 3:30 seems “incredible”. “I knew that the race was going to go fast, but I didn’t know if I was going to be ready for 3:30. Practice has been very good, but this is an exceptional level. Being in 3:30 and being one of the best Europeans in history shows that all the work done over the years has been worth it. If you work and believe in your coach you can achieve many things”, he said.
Regarding the next European Championship, García commented that “it will be like a World Cup” and that he will try to “be selected” to be able to play it next month in Germany.
