Kaiser Gates arrives at UCAM Murcia ready to “achieve many successes”

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The American player Kaiser Gates, 28 years old and 2.01 meters tall, arrives at UCAM Murcia after terminating his contract with Club Joventut Badalona ready to “achieve many successes” this season, with the ‘Play-off’ for the title in mind, after signing for the remainder of the campaign and the possibility of extending the agreement for another year.

“I have some friends who have played here and they have told me that they take great care of their players here, that everything in the city is very good. I am very happy to be here and I hope we can achieve many successes this year,” said the North American forward in his presentation as a new UCAM Murcia CB player.

Gates, who could make his debut this weekend against Barça in the Endesa League, left Joventut after having played 21 official matches with the green-and-black shirt in this first stretch of the campaign. In the Endesa League he averaged 11.7 points in 28 minutes of play in 7 games, while in the EuroCup he played 12 games with an average of 7.7 points.

“I can contribute a lot in defense, three-point shooting and above all be a good player for the team, helping with everything the coach asks of me,” commented the player, who can also play as a power forward given his size.

Gates commented in his presentation what his new coach, Sito Alonso, has asked of him in order to help the team. “He has asked me a little bit of everything, to put in a lot of effort, defense, contribute on the rebound and to be able to score as well,” he revealed.

Asked why he knows the team, he said he wanted to meet his teammates. “I still haven’t had time for much, but when I played for Joventut de Badalona we played against UCAM and we did our scouting. I’m very happy to be here and to be able to meet my new teammates,” he said.

The American signs with the university club until the end of the season, with the option of another campaign. “The most important thing now is to think about this season, yes, we would all like to be able to reach the ‘Playoffs’ and the ‘Final Four’ of the ‘Champions’, but we have to go game by game and we’ll see if we can do it.” achieve,” he predicted.

As for what it has been like for him to change teams in the middle of the season, he downplayed it. “The truth is that I don’t see it as difficult, at the end of the day it’s basketball. Since I arrived they’ve been taking great care of me, the adaptation at the moment has been very good and I hope it continues like that,” he argued.
