Kai Havertz, one step away from signing for Chelsea

One of the soap operas of the summer is nearing its end. Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz is about to sign for Chelsea. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the deal is fully closed and thate the London team will pay € 80 million fixed plus 20 variable, divided into a block of 10 million for regular participation in the Champions League and another 10 for titles in the Premier League, FA Cup or the Champions League. All this adds up to a total of 100 million euros, which will make the German the most expensive signing for Chelsea and the second in the history of the Premier League, just behind Paul Pogba and his 105 million.

Havertz will sign five years for Chelsea and according to Romano he would have already spoken with Lampard, it is only a matter of hours before the transfer is official. It is believed that the player will have a salary of 100 million euros spread over the five years of the contract, but it is not something confirmed yet.

The signing of Kai Havertz was being one of the soap operas of the summer, but for weeks It seemed clear that the future of the German was going to be linked to Stamford Bridge. The Coronavirus crisis has caused Chelsea to be one of the few teams willing to shell out 100 million for a player in this transfer window.

The German Pearl joins Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech as great reinforcements of Chelsea for this next season, forming a dream attack which Lampard hopes to take a step forward in both England and Europe.
