Bayern’s chairman of the board of directors, Oliver Kahn, hasn’t held his tongue after his side’s 4-2 loss to Bochum. ANDhe former German goalkeeper charged against his players, described as “unacceptable” the first half carried out this past Saturday and acknowledged that he expects a reaction in the Champions League match against Salzburg
“I guess the players know that a first half like the one in Bochum is unacceptable. There we are very far from our potential,” said the Bayern coach this Monday at a promotional event for the Covid vaccine held in Munich.
Oliver Kahn considers that the proximity of the Champions League match against Salzburg is positive because it represents a quick opportunity to correct the setback against Bochum: “Sometimes it’s good to be able to play in Salzburg a few days later to forget such a result as soon as possible.”
Bayern’s chairman of the board of directors was particularly critical of the team’s defensive work: “When you lose big, people are always quick to bring up the mentality issue, but I think that not only this season, but also in the last ones, we are lacking a lot in the defensive withdrawal and in the recovery of the ball. We concede too many goals.”
