Juventus confirmed its second case of coronavirus: the Frenchman Blaise Matuidi

This Tuesday, the Juventus reported that Blaise Matuidi He has a coronavirus and is the second footballer on the professional team to catch the virus that is on the planet. The club pointed out that the player has been isolated since March 11 and that, although he has no symptoms, he will be regularly monitored.

The 32-year-old midfielder was born in Toulouse, France, and emerged from the inferiors of the E. S. Troyes, a team in which he debuted at first in 2005. He then went on to Saint-Etienne and in 2011 he arrived at PSG where he shone until 2018 when he was transferred to Juventus. He has also played 84 games for the French team, with which he won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

"Blaise Matuidi underwent medical studies that have tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19. Since March 11, the footballer has been isolated at home. The Frenchman is well and symptom-free, and will continue to be monitored regularly, "the Turin club said in a statement.

On March 15, the footballer had published a video asking the population to respect quarantine and not to leave their homes except for some emergency. By then he was already infected, but did not know.

In Italy, the second country in the world most affected by the pandemic after China, with more than 2,000 deaths, has registered 12 positive cases in elite soccer players.

Juventus is not the only club with more than one case. Valencia announced that 35% of its staff have coronaviruses, all of them are subject to medical monitoring and isolation measures and can carry out the scheduled work plan normally. This information has been released a day after the institution communicated this Sunday that he had detected five positives in the first team, one of them Ezequiel Garay's, and that it was later known that Eliaquim Mangala and José Luis Gayà were also affected.
