Juncà’s nailed thorn

David Juncà returned to Girona last summer with the hope and goal of feeling like a footballer again. And it is on the right track. It is true that this year he has seen how injuries have prevented him from participating in some league duels, but last Monday against Real Sociedad B he had very good feelings. He played a good match, although he has a thorn in the way: he was only four minutes, those of the addition, to complete the meeting. And this is something that resists him because the last time he completed a match was in the 2019-20 season.

Last Monday against Real Sociedad B, 744 days later, he was able to play a whole game, but he will have to wait. During the second half of the match, he already showed clear symptoms of fatigue and, in addition, his body said enough. He was forced to request the change due to some discomfort in his left leg and Michel had no choice but to remove him from the field of play. The last time he managed to compete throughout the game was, when he was at Celta, in the matchday 13 of the 2019-20 season against Barcelona (4-1). Injuries have accompanied him since then, but in Girona it seems that now he has found serenity and play. Against the San Sebastian subsidiary he performed well and his numbers were satisfactory: he only gave 12 bad passes, generated a scoring chance, won two innings, made an interception, recovered five balls and only committed one foul and received another.

This campaign accumulates just over 200 minutes and the medical services want to go with it little by little. It is true that He shows a lack of rhythm of the game and physical strength, but Michel trusts him, in training his predisposition is excellent and he is a fantastic alternative to Jairo Izquierdo, who will be out for three to four weeks after undergoing surgery for a mild pathology. On Monday, against Eibar, everything indicates that Juncà will return to the left lane and will be able, in this way, to continue accumulating minutes and sensations. The best news for a footballer who has lived through an ordeal with injuries and is now trying to be reborn.

Expected return to Ipurúa

David Juncà hopes to have no problems playing on Monday against Eibar in Ipurúa. The Girona defender has this duel marked in red because he returns to what was his home for three seasons. Precisely he left the Girona entity, free, the 2014-15 campaign and committed himself to the gunsmiths to fulfill his desire to play in the First Division. As a Barça player, he played 61 games.
