Juan Villar becomes the post-confinement scoundrel

The goals of Juan Villar fall from his pockets. The Rayo striker has become the post-confirmation scorer of Segunda, thanks to his seven goals in nine and a half games – he could not participate in the second part against Albacete as he was not registered, he arrived in February. The Andalusian comes to almost one goal per day, exactly averages 0.78. Those seven goals place the redhead at the head of the top scorers in the league restart, followed by Rubén Castro (Las Palmas), with six, and by Rafa Mir (Huesca) and Luis Milla (Tenerife), with five.

Villar has three doubles, coincidentally all of them were made at home (Riazor, La Romareda and Juegos Mediterráneos), and a penalty goal (Numancia). In fact, concentrates five of his goals in the last week, the one that took place between July 6 and 13. His last goals came against Almería (51 'and 57') and they put the vallecanos in the match, but they were not enough to avoid defeat (3-2), which makes them not depend on themselves to obtain the quoted sixth place.

Juan Villar is being the team's leading scorer. We must not forget that Rayo has emerged as the most accomplished team of Segunda after being confined with 18 goals — 39% bear the signature of the Huelva striker—, standing ahead of Deportivo (13) and Tenerife, Alcorcón and Huesca (12). Something that has not been enough to stay in playoff positions. The motives? The main one, its defensive fragility. The franjirrojo box has also become the second most scored of the league restart. Zaragoza is the best fit (18), followed by the Vallecanos (15) and Numancia and Mirandés (14).

Villar is the Rayo scoundrel, along with Embarba

Juan Villar has been crowned as Rayo scorer, equaling the seven goals that Embarba had scored. It is striking that both have achieved these records only in part of the season. Villar landed in Vallecas in late February, due to the long-term loss of Leo Ulloa, and his debut and scoring takeoff came in the post-pandemic. For his part, Embarba scored those seven goals before Espanyol signed him on the winter market.
