Juan Carlos Navarro: “Grimau is our reference and continues to be”

“Everything is discussed with the objective of not repeating things that have gone wrong”

BARCELONA, 31 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça's basketball manager, Juan Carlos Navarro, assured this Sunday that the first team coach, Roger Grimau, is doing “good work” despite the current poor streak of results and added that “he continues to be the reference” in the new 'culer' basketball project, despite the fact that all parties know that there are things that should not be repeated.

“It is a new project in which Roger Grimau is our reference and continues to be. He is doing a great job and it is not easy. We already know what our club is like and that shirt, which demands a lot,” Navarro said in statements provided by the club.

Navarro assured, in this assessment of the first stretch of the season at the end of the year, that he is aware that Grimau is trying to “do everything” so that the team “flows” as he did at the beginning of the season. “We trust in him, in the project and in the players we have and we believe that we must give a better version,” he said.

“Everything has been discussed, there is very good communication with the aim of not repeating things that have gone wrong and for people to trust again in what they can do well,” acknowledged one of the living legends of Blaugrana basketball.

For Navarro, this new project after the departures of Mirotic and Jasikevicius, among others, meant bringing in many new faces. “The first part of the season was very good. Even above our expectations. Therefore, we have shown that we can beat any team,” he said.

“Yes, it is true that this December there have been defeats and, due to the nature of some defeats, there are things to change. There have been attitudes on and off the court that we have not liked and that are not worthy of this club and this shirt “There are things that have already been discussed and that will not happen again. All players must take a step forward to change this dynamic,” Navarro acknowledged.

He did ask, however, for the support of the stands. “The players are aware of the situation we are in and the support of the fans is key for us. The Palau will be packed, with the magic that always exists in the Palau and I have no doubt that the fans will help the team. I am sure that the team will return that strength to win these games, starting with Madrid, which is key at the beginning of the new year. We are on time for everything,” he said, thinking about the Euroleague Classic next Wednesday.
