Juan Carlos I, goodbye to Sanxenxo: a hug from the Infanta Elena at the foot of the track

Don Juan Carlos has caught a plane at the Peinador airport in Vigo. A hug from his daughter Elena, in the middle of the fog, was his farewell before leaving Galicia. He has boarded minutes before 10:00 in the morning of this Tuesday, August 1. What are his next plans?

Juan Carlos I is happy in Spain, with his regattas, his friends, his eldest daughter and his victory in the 24th Hotel Carlos I de Silgar Trophy. At 85 years old, the King Emeritus is very competitive in sports, he likes to win and he also likes to celebrate. So there was a Galician celebration. In addition, he has extended his stay beyond the candle cup. The V Class 6mR circuit of the Spanish Cup concluded on Sunday the 30th.

To begin with, his passage through the Ría de Pontevedra has served as a preparation for the World Championship, which will be held from the end of August to the beginning of September on the Isle of Wight, in the United Kingdom. Don Felipe’s father completed an hour of navigation on Monday the 31st, which with the rest of the days, reaches ten hours. He hasn’t stopped.

The entourage of the emeritus in Sanxenxo is reduced to Pedro Campos and Carlos Agra, president and coordinator of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo respectively; Telmo Martín, mayor of the Pontevedra town; and Leonardo López, director of the Hotel Carlos I de Silgar. And of course, the crew of the Rascal 500.

To toast the victory, a very restrained party was held at the Real Club Náutico. Don Juan Carlos was sitting on a stool. He was helped at all times by his assistant and his cane. Applause and cheers rang out. The King’s father smiled. He collected the trophy, a traditional sculpture from Sargadelos, from the councilor of the council. It is a very traditional celebration. After the award ceremony, a cocktail was served. Voz Pópuli refers, that it was a “light” party.

August 3, three years after his march to Abu Dhabi

This Thursday, August 3, a triple pirouette of coincidences takes place: this third visit of the emeritus to Spain coincides in time with the third anniversary of his departure to Abu Dhabi: three years have passed since his self-expatriation. Will he catch him in Spain? Where is this plane taking you?
