Jozabed: “I would not look down on spending more years in Malaga”

Málaga has a purchase option of half a million euros on Jozabed that must be performed in case of promotion. However, the midfielder is clear that he would like to continue at La Rosaleda beyond June 30, whether or not he returns to the First Division. This has been assured in the microphones of the SER string: “Settling in Malaga? Why not. I'm pretty good here. I like what I am experiencing this year. Everything is an uncertainty and it is not necessary to talk about that. It is still very early, we are in the middle of January ”.

Jozabed is happy in Malaga. And his family, too: “Both my family and I are super good in Malaga in every way. In the city, at the club and in the dressing room with teammates. I'm very happy. I feel full happiness in the absence of having more regularity than I have had in the first round. Now comes the decisive stretch of the League and I hope at least to be available for the coach in all the games. If I am healthy, it will be up to me to win whether I am on the pitch or not”.

In addition to his future and how well he has integrated into the club and the city, Jozabed spoke about other topics related to current affairs at Málaga:

Happy with your participation ?: “When I come I want to play everything and so far I have not played everything. I arrived on matchday 3, after three months practically stopped because I did not do preseason. Then I had this last injury for which I have missed four or five games, before I had a threat of injury that also made me miss one or two games … In this first round I have had many setbacks and hopefully in the second round everything will normalize, that injuries respect me and that I can always be at the disposal of the coach ”.

Locker room: “It is a very healthy dressing room, of humble people. We seem to have been together longer than we have. I have made friends in a short period of time and it is difficult for me to open up more than it has cost me here. From the moment you enter you can smell that the environment is healthy, that there is good vibes, and you can see that on the pitch. The coaching staff is close, it gives the player confidence and that makes you play looser ”.

The Rose Garden: “This is one of the few stadiums where I have never won. Whenever I have come with Rayo or Celta, I always lost. I remember a lot about those visits, it was a cursed field because we always lost. I remember them with a full field, which is what we miss the most now. I don't know if this year it will be possible, but sooner or later the fans will return and when that happens, La Rosaleda will be a field perhaps more important than others due to the football atmosphere that is lived here ”.

Bad results at home: “We can't find an explanation, sometimes we consider a hypothesis, but I don't know. The normal thing is the opposite, it always usually costs to win more outside than inside. This year it is the other way around, sometimes they have tied us and they have traced back favorable scores at home. I don't know if when we get ahead we don't know how to defend the result, we back down too far or we get a little anxious. I do not know. We did not find that solution, but it was true that we defend the result much better when we get ahead than at home ”.

28 points: “At the beginning of the season, I don't think anyone thought that we would carry these points and that we had an eight-point cushion on relegation. We reached 25 points five days ago and since then we have only been able to tie three games. It could have been quite a few more points than we carry. As the first lap has been developing, I am a nonconformist and I think we could get more points. In the last games we have deserved more. In Almería we deserved to win and we lost, in Albacete too and we drew. But it has happened that way. We are happy with those 28 points, but we are not satisfied ”.

Is permanence the goal ?: “Personally I think so, and more coming from where the club comes from, with all the problems that occurred in the summer, with the EREs to the players and workers. In August and September the club hardly had any professionals. Looking at all that and being the lowest budget in the category, I think that the goal should be that. Once we get it, we have to look at more and see where we can go. But the main thing is to get permanence for the club because it is very important. So far we are on the right track ”.

How was your signing forged ?: “I know since I finished in Girona that returning to Celta is not possible. My agent tells me what options there are and what options there are, I choose this one. Because it's an attractive club, a great club, it's close to home and I thought that the best thing for me was coming to Malaga. Then it takes longer than necessary because in the end the club had problems hiring players, I had to let out before signing, there was a lot of fuss and in the end I arrived at the end of September. The contacts came from long before but it could not be done until that moment because of all this that I have commented ”.
