Real Madrid is in quarantine after Trey Thompkins, a player in the basketball section, has tested positive for the coronavirus. The news was communicated to all employees around 11:00 in the morning. At that time, the soccer team had planned to train but they had not even changed their clothes when they arrived in Valdebebas.
At 11:30, all the players left Ciudad Real Madrid with no exact return date and with the indication that they must be in isolation phase from 15 to 20 days. One of those footballers, Luka Jovic, was the first to speak about the matter in a media. The Serbian striker appreciated the situation with B92 and, as reported by AS this Thursday, said that the measures taken by the white entity left no doubt: quarantine. “We went to training this morning, but they came from the club and said that we had no training or anything for the next two weeks. We should all be home and not leave Madrid”, the striker pointed out in statements that were also reproduced by the Blic newspaper.
Jovic, who in this minimal intervention in his country has revealed that he has had some small inconveniences for a few days (physical problems that he did not have when he was out of the calls against Barça and Betis), indicated that he shared areas of Valdebebas with Thompkins: “Since I was injured and did not train for the past two to three days I have used the same recovery groups as a coronavirus player.” Of course, he assured that it is in perfect condition. “I feel really good, I have no symptoms; we are waiting for the club's decision”he concluded.
For the moment, the decision Madrid has made is to stop all activity and send all the workers of the first squad home. Zidane has already informed the players that there will be no training until a new order, although they will receive a personalized list of physical exercises that they must complete at home with the sole objective of not losing their fitness status when it is decided to resume the competition. LaLiga has already communicated that soccer stops for at least two weeks. The second round match of the Champions League, which Madrid was to play on Tuesday, has also been postponed by UEFA. And nobody in the club dares to venture when normal activity will resume.
