José María Muñoz: “The option of Malaga not being in the Second Division is catastrophic”

Genuine League in Malaga. “It is a satisfaction that they come and play in a professional football stadium, which is not usually the case and coinciding with the 80th anniversary (of La Rosaleda) is something very nice for them. It was a goal that had to be achieved and here we are. I just hear congratulations and thank the club for all these weeks. Relations with LaLiga. “Javier has come and the relationship with LaLiga is good. You have to maintain a good relationship looking for the best interests of the club. No one expects this scenario and we are deeply optimistic about the situation. It is seen in the conversations with the coach, the atmosphere of the players…”

concern about the situation. “Because of my professional practice I have had complicated situations, but I have had a pinch in my stomach for three weeks and there is nothing that will take it away from me until this is resolved. The option that Malaga is not in the Second Division is catastrophic for everyone. We are going to be positive and think that the horizon is closer, because next year what is planned is much better than this year”.

Economic situation. “It remains exactly the same, it is a totally healthy club. The only loan there is is the participative loan from the CVC, which obviously has to be there”.

Different scenarios in the Second or the First RFEF? “No, not right now. The worst scenario is nothing more than I know and the best scenario is nothing more than I know. Until the season is over I don’t want to make any kind of comment on it.”

Would Malaga be viable in the First RFEF? “The blow could be cushioned. Two years ago it was the disappearance and at the moment that scenario is not contemplated. I said it in the previous appearance, the club would continue. But I don’t want to talk about that, just convey that it would be viable. We are going to be positive, we must send messages of optimism to the players and the fans”.

And what messages come from the locker room? “Yes, totally optimistic. This week has been very nice for training. I had a long conversation with the coach on Wednesday, an hour and a half, just the two of us, apart from the ones we have almost every day, yesterday I saw him again. We are all tremendously optimistic, from the first to the last”.

Works of the Academy. “The architect is finishing Phase 1, the subphase is already finished and now there are a couple of fringes left to finish that first one. It keeps going, at a slower pace because we don’t want to do something that we have to tear down later. It has been very difficult to carry something forward when there was no money, now that there is, we have to do something that is lasting for the players. Part of the debt that the club had has been refinanced, as you know.”

Antonin’s affair. “There is a disciplinary file and we are waiting for him to make allegations. You know I always say that, for example, Al-Thani is innocent until proven guilty. In this case, the same”.
