The journalist José Damián González has been re-elected this Tuesday as president of the Madrid Sports Press Association (APDM) until 2025, while the informants Carmen Colino, Gaspar Díez and Paco García Caridad will hold the position of vice presidents in the new Board of Directors , reports the APDM in a statement.
The Board of Directors of the APDM is completed by Paco Grande, José Félix Díaz, Sofía Martín, Fernando Peinado, Gema Hassen-Bey, Alejandro Alcázar and Lydia Bermejo as members; Juan Gato, treasurer, and Juan Manuel Merino will continue as general secretary. The president’s advisers are Luis Villarejo and Raúl Cancio.
This will be the third consecutive term at the head of the APDM of José Damián González Alcaide, who has been editor and chronicler of El País, deputy director of Diario 16, editor-in-chief of As and La Gaceta and editor of the Sports supplement of La Razón.
On radio, González Alcaide has been a talk show host on the programs Goles (Rato chain), El Larguero (SER chain), and Punto Radio. He is currently a journalist for El Chiringuito de Jugones, directed and presented by Josep Pedrerol.
The development and projection of the APDM brand began nine years ago, the defense of sports journalism in all its facets, and its adaptation to the new times, the maintenance of a close relationship with journalists and photojournalists specialized in this matter and the increase in the relationship with the Faculty of Information Sciences of the UCM are part of the objectives of this new legislature, explained González.
“These and other objectives will be achieved thanks to a Board of Directors of the highest quality, plural, made up of great journalists. For me it is a blessing to be at the head of this government team. all associates, which is what we really came here for,” he said.
