The Malaga has confirmed this Tuesday the hiring of José Alberto López Menéndez as his new coach for the next two seasons, until June 2023.
José Alberto, 39, comes from Mirandés But his foundations as a coach put them in the grassroots football of Sporting de Gijón, with whose subsidiary he achieved promotion to Second B in the 2016-17 campaign. Just a year later, he led the team to the playoffs for promotion to LaLiga SmartBank. In 2018-19 he replaced Rubén Baraja at Sporting, leaving him in ninth place. This recently completed course left Mirandés in tenth position in the silver category.
