Jorge Vilda, dismissed as women’s coach

MADRID, 5 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach Jorge Vilda has been dismissed this Tuesday as the women’s national soccer team, shortly after proclaiming himself world champion in the tournament in Australia and New Zealand, and the Extraordinary General Assembly of the RFEF in which he applauded the speech of President Luis Rubiales, suspended by FIFA.

“The RFEF, in one of the first renewal measures announced by President Pedro Rocha, has decided to dispense with the services of Jorge Vilda as sports director and women’s national coach, a position, the latter, which he took up in 2015,” the statement added. RFEF in a statement.

The dismissal of the women’s national team, already “worn out” by the conflict of “The 15” international “rebels”, comes after the national team embroidered its first star by beating England (1-0) in the Cup final of the Women’s World on August 20.

This historic milestone was punctuated by Luis Rubiales’s kiss to the international Jenni Hermoso in the celebration of the trophy, as well as by the intervention of the suspended president in the Extraordinary Assembly of the RFEF, in which he refused to resign, to applause from most of those present, including Vilda.

In addition, the coaching staff of the former women’s coach made their positions “available” to the federation, and the world champions announced that they would resign from the team if changes were not made to the structure of Spanish women’s football.

At that meeting in Las Rozas, Rubiales announced the start of negotiations to shield Vilda for the next four years by charging a salary of 500,000 euros per year. Finally, the agreement has not been confirmed, already with Pedro Rocha as interim president of the RFEF.

Precisely, the president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Víctor Francos, will hold this afternoon, starting at 5:30 p.m., a meeting at the organization’s headquarters with Rocha. According to the CSD, the reason for this meeting responds to the “interest” of the Secretary of State for Sport “in finding out about the structural changes” announced by the federal body last week after the meeting of the Commission of Territorial Presidents.

The RFEF then reported a “profound” and “imminent organic restructuring” in strategic positions in the federation to make way for a “new management stage” in Spanish football after everything that happened after Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso after the World Cup final.
