Jorge Sampaoli: “The team played a great game, it seemed like a step forward”

MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sevilla’s coach, Jorge Sampaoli, acknowledged after Tuesday’s draw against Borussia Dortmund that “the team played a great game”, in what “seemed like a step forward” for his team, who had lost just a week ago forcefully against the same rival.

“The team played a good game, it stood up, it could have won the game due to the situations it generated and it practically did not suffer in its own goal against a rival of the hierarchy that we played with, it seemed like a step forward”, declared the Argentine to the club media after the match.

The Sevilla coach stressed that he was “happy” with his team’s match “because the team enjoyed themselves and played in a place where it is difficult to play”, Signal Iduna Park, where, according to his coach, “he played very calmly and with hierarchy.

Sevilla, who took the lead thanks to a goal from Nianzou, saw Jude Bellingham equalize in the first half. Later, Sevilla could win, but had no luck. It was also the debut of Marcao, who had a great game but left the field in added time, setting off the alarm about another possible physical problem.

However, Sampaoli wanted to reassure his fans stating that it was “more than anything, fatigue”, something logical considering that he had not made his debut and had to play two games in just four days. “He accumulated two games and was very tired,” concluded the Argentine.
