Jorge Prado returns to the path of victory in Germany

MADRID, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish motocross rider Jorge Prado won the German Grand Prix this Sunday to regain the path of victory and the lead in the World Championship, while the Spanish Daniela Guillén was second and rose in the general standings.

After the muddy French Grand Prix, Prado once again became strong in the German event, dominating from start to finish. The GasGas driver had already set the best times in free practice and qualifying on Saturday, but the rain appeared as a threatening ghost and prevented him from winning the qualifying.

Tim Gajser took the victory but with the drier track and the usual deep ruts in Teutschenthal, the first race had the name Prado. He did not come out first, but the Spaniard soon got rid of Gajser and Coldenhoff and put himself in the middle to achieve a new victory.

The race also smiled on the Galician with the abandonment of the Frenchman Romain Febvre, hurt by his thumb injury, and with the poor performance of Gajser who at the end of the race was overtaken by Jeffrey Herlings.

In the second, Prado was brave from the beginning, changed his starting fence and achieved the precious holeshot that would allow him to lead from start to finish. The Spaniard defended himself against the attacks of Herlings and Gajser to achieve his sixth Grand Prix.

The current world champion also regained the red badge of World Cup leader with two points ahead of Gajser. “There were many ruts and it was easy to make mistakes, but I concentrated to avoid making them and withstand the attacks of my rivals. It has been a perfect weekend, very happy with my driving and with a new victory,” he stated.

On the other hand, Daniela Guillén finished second after a great show of strength, suffering in the second race from two falls that forced her to come back, behind the German veteran Larissa Papenmeir and ahead of her rival in the championship, the Dutch Lotte Van Drunen. Guillén reduces her disadvantage in the general standings by one point and aims for the next three events to fight for the title.
