Jorge Prado drops out of the title fight in Switzerland

MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish rider Jorge Prado (GasGas) has somewhat dropped out of the fight for the title in the MXGP category of the Motocross World Championship after a Swiss Grand Prix that was not overly positive for the Galician.

The rider from Lugo was on a good run in which he had closed the gap with the leader, the Slovenian Tim Gajser (Honda), and although he returned to the podium with a third place, his rival was the dominator of the event with a double of victories that caused the gap between them to increase to 18 points.

Prado hoped to adapt well to the Swiss track and despite a good performance in qualifying and in the qualifying heat, in which he was the fastest, in the races, marked by the rain that fell at night, he was unable to shine in the same way. In the first heat, the Spaniard had a race that went from less to better to finish third, the same result he achieved in the second, although in this case after going from better to worse as he was leading before losing again to Gajser and the Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings (KTM).

“It’s been a tough weekend. I was ill and I didn’t feel well at the start of the race. I also hurt my leg during the first race and it was in pain in the second. On this very difficult track you have to be in top form to be able to fight with these guys. It’s a shame because we lost some points, but there are still three races left and we’re going to keep fighting,” said Prado.
