The father of Argentine footballer Leo Messi, Jorge Messi, has ensured that his son’s preferred option after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain would be to return to FC Barcelona, something that he would “love”, and has stated that the decision is close to be taken.
“I don’t know anything yet. I’d love for Leo to come back. It depends on a lot of things. We spoke the other day -with Joan Laporta-, but there’s nothing concrete,” he told the media after meeting with the top president of the Barcelona club.
In addition, he reiterated that the Argentine star’s priority after leaving the Parisian team is to return to the culé team. “She’d love to, of course. We still have a lot to talk about,” he insisted.
Messi, 35, will leave Paris Saint-Germain, where he arrived in the summer of 2021, on June 30, after not renewing with the Parisian club; in his two seasons in Paris he has won two Ligue 1 and one Super Cup.
The Argentine left the Barça club in 2021 when his new contract could not be formalized “due to economic and structural obstacles, regulations of the Spanish LaLiga.” In total, he played 778 official matches in 17 seasons, raising 35 titles with the Catalan team.
