Jorge Martín: “I’m being fast and that keeps me alive”

MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish MotoGP rider Jorge Martín (Ducati) acknowledged that the Indonesian and Australian Grands Prix have been “painful” due to the fall suffered in Mandalika and his problem with the rear tire at Phillip Island when he was leading on both occasions, but he made it clear that he is being “fast” and that this keeps him “alive” in the face of his chances of fighting for the title, although he admitted that from now on he will not risk “excessively” with the choice of tires.

“Without a doubt, the last two weekends were painful, one because of the crash and the other because of the tire error, but I’m being fast and that keeps me alive. You never know what’s going to happen when you arrive at a circuit, but the Last year I was strong and my mentality will be to attack and try to win both races,” Martín said in the previous press conference.

For the man from Madrid, it was “hard” to watch the race at Phillip Island (Australia) last Saturday and he insisted that he was “convinced that he had made the right choice with the rear tire. “The last four laps were like a nightmare and I was trying to use my best abilities to not fall and go fast. We turned the page and I will try again this weekend,” he warned.

“Sometimes, when you go fast with both tires it is difficult to understand. They told me that the wear was quite similar and I took a gamble, but I thought the choice was the right one. In the next races I am not going to take excessive risks with the tires “confirmed the second place finisher in the World Cup.

Martín recalled that last year Ducati was “first, second and third on the starting grid” at the Chang Circuit and that they had “a very fast pace.” “I hope it will be a tight fight,” said the Madrid native, who does not forget the good work of Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) last year and that the one from Cervera won the first two editions of this Grand Prix.
