A goal by Jorge Cuenca in the last minute of added time allowed Almería to beat Rayo in Vallecas, in a match in which the Madrid team added their first defeat of the season at home and played for fifty minutes with one less due to expulsion from the side Peruvian law Luis Advíncula.
The match started with two opposing strategies. That of Rayo trying to take the offensive initiative of the game and that of Almería advancing their lines to seek prominence and make the ball out for their rival uncomfortable.
At 26 minutes Luis Advíncula was sent off with a direct red for a stomp on Umar Sadiq and left Rayo with ten players. His coach, Andoni Iraola, moved the bench and put the young winger Mario Hernández on the pitch to secure the defensive line.
