Jordan Thompson, first rival of Carlos Alcaraz in Cincinnati

MADRID, 15 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Australian tennis player Jordan Thompson will be the first rival of the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz in the tournament in Cincinnati (United States), the seventh Masters 1,000 of the season and which is played on hard courts, after beating the American John Isner on Monday by a double 7 -6.

Thompson, classified from the previous phase and number 55 in the world, carried out a disputed duel of almost two hours against the American ‘gunboat’, invited by the organization and who could not take advantage of his 20 direct aces.

Both players gave few break options and in the end the oceanic player was better in the two ‘sudden deaths’ and he took 7/5 and 7/2 to meet for the first time in his career with the Murcian, who starts as the first head series and that comes from falling in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1,000 of Canada against the American Tommy Paul.
