“It’s time to recover completely”

The Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) was discharged from hospital this Tuesday in the center of the Basque Country where he was still hospitalized after undergoing surgery, on the weekend of April 6-7, on a fractured clavicle with his ugly fall in the last Itzulia.
“Hello everyone, it’s time for me to leave the hospital. I want to thank all the medical staff for taking such good care of me. And I want to thank everyone for their moral support,” acknowledged the Dane, double reigning Tour de France champion, in his networks.
Vingegaard celebrated having received “many messages, gifts and drawings” during his hospitalization in Euskadi. “It’s comforting! Now it’s time to fully recover again. Thumbs up!” she added.
The Dane underwent successful surgery on his clavicle at the hospital to which he was transferred and has spent these weeks recovering from the operation and the rest of the injuries he suffered.
His team, through several statements, assured that Vingegaard was “fine” and conscious despite the effects of the fall; a fracture in the clavicle, several broken ribs, a lung contusion and a pneumothorax.
All this after a massive fall that affected, among others, the then leader of the race Primoz Roglic (BORA-hansgrohe) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), although Vingegaard was taken on a stretcher, motionless, to an ambulance before of being able to be transferred to the hospital that he left this Tuesday after almost two weeks in hospital.
