A spectacular 'eagle' in hole 2 and his teacher with the 'wedge' to get the ball out of the 'bunkers' unleashed enthusiasm at the Torrey Pines Golf Club, where John Rahm is emerging as a favorite to close his fourth title on Sunday of the PGA. In the absence of the last 18 holes, the Spaniard leads the table (-12) with one stroke less than Ryan Palmer and three less than Rory McIlroy.

“I was really focused. Keeping ghost-free in Torrey Pines is a very good round,” said Rahm, who also signed a brilliant 'chip' in the first hole for 'birdie'. His 65 strokes rivaled Palmer's spectacular Saturday card, compared last year in the New Orleans Classic, where they both conquered the title.

The 69 hits of the Saturday (-3) were insufficient for Tiger Woods, which nevertheless maintains its options of assaulting the record of 83 titles in the PGA. “I will have to make a pretty good round. It will cost me work,” predicted the local intent, forced to overcome those five impacts with his head.

The precedent of 2017

The field of La Jolla (California) seems to especially inspire Rahm, who in 2017 inaugurated his palmars in the circuit. In case of victory, the bilbano will pocket more than one million dollars, in addition to 500 points from the FedExCup.

McIlroy, on the other hand, needs a win to return to number one of the rnking for the first time since 2015. The Norirlands rubric a (-5) and shares with third three the third place (-9).
