Joma adapts its collection of running shoes to the female footprint

The goal is to improve performance, prevent injuries and offer a more comfortable and natural running experience for every runner.

MADRID, 19 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The sports brand Joma has designed a line of running shoes made with a last specifically designed for women, which adapts to the biomechanical needs and characteristics of the female stride.

In this way, the Spanish company aims to express its commitment to offering products that optimize performance and comfort, taking into account the differences between the running styles of men and women.

It also wants to distance itself from other brands that make women’s shoes based on adaptations of men’s models, one of the main reasons why the flexibility and support that the female arch needs when planting is not fully covered.

To do this, the research and development team of the company based in Portillo de Toledo (Toledo) has based itself on biomechanical studies that demonstrate that there are fundamental differences between the strides of men and women.

The improvements have also been tested in collaboration with the brand’s athletes, who have refined each design. It has been found that women’s feet tend to be narrower at the heel and wider at the front.

This requires a tighter fit and a design that accommodates these proportions. Women tend to have a greater ‘Q angle’ – the inclination of the femur towards the knees – which means that the shoe must offer greater stability and support in specific areas of the arch and heel, to avoid the risk of injury.

Similarly, since, on average, women have less body mass than men, Joma’s new line includes lighter cushioning to improve shock absorption without overloading the stride.

Joma’s goal with this line is to improve performance, prevent injuries and offer a more comfortable and natural running experience for every runner, from the most experienced level to amateur running.

Mixed models such as Storm Viper, Supercross or Líder already have these changes incorporated and offer a superior experience to female riders.
