Joel Parra: “Losing against Real Madrid leaves you shaken”

“We are asked to give our best, but it is a reality that everything has a process”

MADRID, 20 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The new Barça player Joel Parra confessed that “losing against Real Madrid leaves you shaken”, in reference to the Super Cup final last weekend, but expressed his “excitement” for a season that he faces with the dream of ” win the Euroleague.”

“I see the team as good and very united, with a lot of desire to work. Yes, it is true that we have lost the first opportunity to win a title, against our rival, Real Madrid, but in the end, it will sound like an excuse, but we did just a training session all together,” he said this Wednesday at the presentation of the Endesa League.

The former Joventut player signed this summer for a Barça that faces a transition without time to relax, with the baton on the bench for Roger Grimau. “We have a lot of work left to do. The team is shaken after this defeat, we are Barça and we compete to win everything. We aspire for everything,” he said.

“When you meet such strong rivals, it was a moment of disconnection in the third quarter, that when you forgive with teams like that they punish you very well. It was the opportunity to win the first title and start with good feelings, losing against Madrid leaves you touched,” he added.

“We have had many players coming from the World Cup, we are in deep water with preparation, also with a new coach. We are asked to give our best, but it is a reality that everything has a process. Last Saturday we saw that We needed to film and get to know each other better,” he insisted.

On the other hand, Parra pointed out that against Madrid that moment of disconnection failed, as well as the brake on Facundo Campazzo and Edy Tavares. “They are two players in Europe who have a high level defensively above all. Grimau and the coaching staff will find a way to hurt them, it is a question for him,” he stated.

“I am in favor of when there has been a good group, the success rate is higher. Because we are good people we are not going to win but it helps to compete. I have been with the team for three weeks now, all the people at the club are making it very easy for that the adaptation be as fast as possible,” he added.

In addition, the Spanish international valued the signings of Willy Hernangómez and Jabari Parker. “We are not playing the NBA, we are playing the ACB and the Euroleague. They are two players of a high level. We have a great squad to compete and win titles,” he said.

“My dream is to win the Euroleague, I have it in mind. The World Cup was a harder blow, after the Super Cup we are hurt but the whole season remains. I have just started, I am really looking forward to it,” he added.
