MADRID, 11 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish driver Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) has assured that his sprint race this Saturday at the French Grand Prix has ended “even before it started” due to a problem in the rear axle, and he believes that if it weren’t for that he could having finished close to “the ‘Top 10′”.
“From the beginning I saw that there was something wrong with the rear axle and we were losing a lot of grip. We need to check everything to understand the problem and improve for tomorrow. It’s a shame, because it meant that our race ended even before start and I fell because of it,” he said in statements provided by his team.
Furthermore, the Spaniard believes that on Sunday they will have to fight to be close to the top ten. “It’s also a shame because I think we could have been fighting with Zarco and been close to him, even in the Top-10. That is the goal for tomorrow and I trust that we can find a solution,” he stressed.
For his part, his teammate, the Italian Luca Marini, eighteenth this Saturday, explained that “you can always get positive things from each lap.” “We have more data and we have learned some things to improve for Sunday. It is clear what we are missing in the set we currently have, so we will continue working until a piece arrives that allows us to change it,” he noted.
“For tomorrow, we will try to make another small change to the bike to improve the sensations with the front axle. I am confident that Honda will bring what we need soon,” he concluded.
