The Spanish MotoGP rider Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) described this Sunday’s race at the Qatar Grand Prix, the first round of the World Championship, as a “good race”, despite finishing thirteenth, since after “a long time” he was able to “enjoy piloting”.
“We had a good race. I started well, recovering several positions. I haven’t enjoyed driving for a long time, so that’s positive. Starting from the back is not easy, but we have done a good job to be with Quartararo for most of the race. the race,” he said in statements provided by his team.
Mir achieved the first points for Repsol Honda, riding close to the pace of the Top 10. “In the last five laps I felt that I had something more than him, so I overtook him and I was even able to get away for a second,” he added, before explaining the final problem with the tires.
“In the last two laps the tires have deteriorated a lot and I have lost positions. But despite this we are happy with everything we have done and we continue to learn,” he concluded.
