Jesús Herrada: “There were faster people, but I trusted my top speed”

MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist Jesús Herrada (Cofidis) showed his joy this Friday after completing the breakaway and winning the sprint of the seventh stage of La Vuelta, a victory he achieved thanks to his “top speed” despite having “faster people” in front of him “.

“The final sprint was crazy. I knew I had to be patient, try to be at the wheel of the first of the breakaway. There were faster people, but I trusted my top speed,” Herrada said after getting his second victory in the Spanish round .

The man from Cuenca knew how to finish off a five-runner breakaway to win in a very tight finish, which was decided on the finish line in which he beat the Italian Samuele Battistella (Astana). “It’s very important because it took a lot to break away until we had a considerable lead,” he admitted.

“In the port we had to make a lot of effort and we understood each other quite well, the six of us, and then the five of us who were going. It was giving everything until the end. We knew that the terrain and the wind were in our favor and we were able to achieve it” , he pointed.

In this way, Spanish cycling lives the second partial triumph, after the victory of Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) last Wednesday. “We’re not that bad. We’re happy, tomorrow will be a very hard day, but we’re going to enjoy today,” he said.
