Jenni Hermoso explodes with irony against the coach Montse Tomé: “Protect me from what?”

“The same people who ask us for trust are the ones who today launch a list with players who have asked not to be called up,” says JEnni Beautiful says in reference to the list that Montse Tomé It was made public on Monday afternoon despite the resignation of many players from representing the national team. Early this Tuesday morning, Hermoso published a statement in response to the coach and the Royal Spanish Football Federation after the squad list for the UEFA Nations League matches.

Hermoso shoots against the new coach and the response in which she refers to the absence of the player who was kissed without consent by Rubiales for reasons of “protection.” For this reason, he asks himself: “Protect me from what? Or who?” reads his note.

Jenni Hermoso, much to her regret, was the protagonist of the non-consensual kiss suffered by the now former president of the RFEF Luis Rubiales, which finally ended her departure. It has been tumultuous. Her title as world champion was tarnished by this fact that has gone around the world: lies, false statements, pressure and a national debate pointed to the Pachuca player

Then we had the communications, the call this Monday from the new coach of Montse Tomé with clear reference to the Spanish forward and the subsequent statement from her teammates insisting on her resignation despite the possible sanctions they may face.

The statement published by Jenni Hermoso on her social networks accuses the Royal Spanish Football Federation of not protecting them and of using “another strategy of division and manipulation to intimidate and threaten us.” For Jenni, “further proof” that “nothing has changed.” She also expresses solidarity with her teammates who have been “surprised and forced to react” after the call, to finally conclude with a clear response to the coach Montse Tomé. “In the same call it was announced that they are not calling me to protect myself,” Jenni compares, but points out that the RFEF sees it as “safe for my teammates.” For this reason, the leader of the National Team asks herself: “Protect me from what? Or from whom?” She says in this harsh statement, which could mark a turning point between the conflict between the players and the RFEF.

Montse Tomé, the new Spanish coach, offered her first official list with 23 called up, fifteen of them world champions, but with the notable absence of Jennifer Hermoso, whom she did not want to mention to “protect” her from all the media noise generated as a result of the kiss that Luis Rubiales gave him during the celebration after winning the World Cup.

Jennifer Hermoso, currently at Mexican club Pachuca, is one of the most important players on the Spanish team. She has worn its jersey in 69 games and has scored forty goals, but she will not be in the first two matches of the Nations League against Sweden and Switzerland.

“We are with Jenni in everything and with all the players. The way to help them is to be close to them and listen to them. I think the best way to protect Jenni is like this (not calling her up). We count on her, I have been working with her for five years and I have coincided with her as a professional colleague, because when we played together we have faced each other,” said Montse Tomé, at a press conference, to argue the absence of the Madrid forward.

“Jenni is a professional soccer player, she loves what she does, but this matter has transcended all levels,” said the new coach, who has spoken with the player although she did not want to reveal the conversation. “I wouldn’t like to make the conversations with the players public,” she said.
