Spain adds four medals on the first day in Manchester
MADRID, 3 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish taekwondo player Javier Pérez Polo won silver this Saturday in the Grand Prix Final held in Manchester and won the ticket for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Madrid native will thus have the opportunity to make up for his elimination in the first round of Tokyo 2020, accompanying the already qualified Adriana Cerezo (-49 kilos), Olympic silver in Tokyo, and Adrián Vicente (-58 kilos) in the French capital.
Pérez Polo defeated the Jordanian Zaid Al-Halawani in three rounds to guarantee his ticket although he later lost in the final with the Hungarian Levente Mark Jozsa. The silver from Madrid was added to those of Cerezo and Vicente, while Hugo Arillo achieved a bronze in -58.
Cerezo revived the Tokyo Olympic final against Thailand's Panipak Wongpattanakit, who won by a double 5-2 in two rounds.
