Javier Aguirre, new coach of Mallorca

MADRID, 24 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Mexican Javier Aguirre is the new coach of RCD Mallorca until the end of this season and replacing Luis García Plaza, dismissed with nine LaLiga Santander games remaining, as announced by the vermilion club this Thursday with a statement.

“Javier Aguirre (Mexico City, 1959) has become the new coach of RCD Mallorca. The coach arrives on the island to face the last nine days of the championship with the aim of achieving permanence in the First Division,” reported Mallorca.

From the club they highlight his “experience in football” and in LaLiga, after directing Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid, Zaragoza, RCD Espanyol and CD Leganés. In total, he has directed more than 450 official matches in Spain, between the League, Cup, Champions League and UEFA. He has also been the coach of Mexico in two stages, in addition to coaching the Japanese and Egyptian national teams.

In his new stage as a Majorcan player, he will be accompanied by the Majorcan coach Toni Amor, who became assistant coach of the subsidiary under Jaume Bauzà, and the physical trainer Pol Lorente.

During his presentation as the new coach, Aguirre was “very happy to return to the best league in the world”. “Mallorca always made a good impression on me, there is potential and material to stay in the First Division, we have nine games left in an open grave,” he said.

“I’M VERY HAPPY TO RETURN TO THE BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD”

“The club has always caught my attention and it’s a very attractive league. It’s important for me to come here, I’m going to work with people from the island, but what attracted me the most is the squad, there’s a lot of quality. Everything went very quickly during the negotiations. What we like is to work, the issue of the duration of the contract is handled by my representative, I hope I stay here for many years,” he said on his arrival.

The technician did not want to give clues about how the team will play in this new stage. “It is difficult to make a diagnosis when you see the team only as a spectator. I need to see how the players are and put together a competitive team for Saturday. I don’t have the answer on how we will play, we will see how we put together,” he said.

“Being in descent conditions you a lot. Being in an uncomfortable place makes you get an extra. I hope that this time it goes well and we all celebrate the permanence of Mallorca. I need to assess how the dressing room is, see how the ‘animometer’ is. We have to get an extra because we are in a compromised area and time is running out. We have to influence the emotional aspect of the players, “he analyzed about the vermilion team.

Aguirre, who insisted that the team’s situation “is not desperate,” thanked former coach Luis García Plaza for his willingness. “He is a colleague with whom I have faced several times, he is a coach from head to toe. Between colleagues we always look for each other and we comment on things with respect, I don’t know if I will, but everything that adds up will be welcome “, he pointed.
