Javi Gracia: “We have shown character, but the draw is not enough for us”

Valencia coach, Javi Gracia, said that he did not celebrate the equalizer of his team against Alavés but remarked that after going ahead the Basque team showed “character” to “get a draw” that knows “little”.

“As the game had started, it is better to add than not to. We offer the best face we can, we work hard, we try to compete well, but it is hard for us to find the best matches, “he admitted at the press conference.

Gracia said that it would have seemed “unfair” that they had won the game although he acknowledged that it was difficult for them to have chances to score.

“The team didn't make a bad start in the game, we tried to play in the opposite half and keep their rival away. It was not a game with many clear chances, in the second the goal was disallowed and a pass in front that seemed incredible that no one could finish and when the game was more open we received the goal ”, he stressed.

Gracia, who said that with what the team has “it has to give” to save itself and explained that she valued making some more changes but finally decided not to “because those who were there were doing it well.”

The coach did not want to analyze whether his departure could be a setback for the team. “I have already said it many times, I am here to work,” he stressed.
